Happy 100th Birthday Oreo!

Wow Oreo turns 100 today!!! That is hard to believe when you really start to think about it. Our grandparents and even great grandparents were eating the same delicious cookies that we do! Amazing!

In honor of celebrating Oreo's 100th Birthday they even made a special "Birthday Cake" Oreo!

Look inside! It smells like birthday cake, tastes like birthday cake with frosting and has

sprinkles to boot! How can you not love this???

We certainly do that is why we love to make our Cake Pops with Oreo's and cream cheese.

Not only is it easy but it's Yummilicious!

Oreo Cookie Truffle recipe for Cake Pops:

1 16.6oz. package of Oreo Cookie (original flavor not double stuffed)

7oz of cream cheese.

Put Oreo Cookies in a food processor until fine crumbs. Hand mix with cream cheese.

Now we couldn't just say Happy Birthday as that would be only half the fun. To CELEBRATE we wanted to do something extra fun!!!!

St. Patty's Day Inspiration

I LOVE St. Patrick's Day and I'm not even Irish. It's one of those no stress, all fun holidays.

What's not to love!

Some inspiration. Why not try a cupcake pop with a green bottom! As alway we used My Little Cupcake's Mini-Mold to make these. I used shamrock sprinkles and a green sixlet topper.

Other fun ideas are the sugar shamrock decorations from Wilton and I love the gold coin idea. It's chocolate inside and I got these at my local craft store... A.C. Moore.

Heart Shaped Valentine's Day Cake Pops

Shopping List:

My Little Cupcake's Heart Shaped Mini-Mold™
Oreo Cookies
Cream Cheese
Candy Melts (In Pink or Lavender)
Sanding Sugar in Sparkling White
Valentine Candy Hearts

Heart Shaped Mini-Mold™

Fill and Press and you have a heart shaped Cake Pop ready to chill and dip.

Pop Recipe: (Full Instructions Here)
Oreo Cookies
Cream Cheese

Mold your hearts and chill

Melt your candy wafers.

Carefully add the stick to the base of the chilled heart.

Dip heart in candy melts that are deep enough to dip in one dip. Remove excess candy melts and cover heart with sprinkles.

Place candy conversation heart in the center of your heart shaped cake pop. The secret is to cover your heart before the chocolate dries but make sure your chocolate isn't too runny or the sprinkles and chocolate will just drip off.

And that's it. You're all done. I added the wrapper tied it with ribbon and a Valentine tag and you have a very cute Valentine Gift for your children's friends or even your own.

Look what an upside down heart can make!

Supplies you will need.

In addition you might need a black food writing pen (for the mouth) and red color dust (for the cheeks) and a couple of chocolate melts (for the eyes).

Dip the heart into the candy melts and right before dry add pretzels then let dry.

First I add the nose with a drop of candy melts to make it stick. Then I used chocolate candy melts to make the eyes.
1 drop for each.

There is something about the simplicity of this one that I really like.

The Bow is two jumbo hearts facing each other. A drop of candy melts in the center and stick on the green sprinkle.

The cheeks I colored on with a brush and pink color dust.

I added some eyelashes to dress up the girls.

Bow on top and it's a girl.

Bow on bottom and it is Rudolf.

Wow, what a year this has been for me!!! 3 new molds and Cake Pops are "Popping" up everywhere!

I have been so blessed. I have the best fans and customers. I love hearing the wonderful stories from everyone who contacts My Little Cupcake and comments on our posts. I feel truly blessed and humbled by all the wonderful cake pop makers out there who share my joy of creating and love the molds as much as I do.

Calling all Turkeys

These are fairly easy to make and a lot of fun! A great addition to your Thanksgiving Feast!

Supplies needed:

Our cupcake mold of course (LOL)

orange melts for top

5 fall colored candy corns per turkey

1 red jelly (any shape)

a little sugar

2 white round sprinkles

black edible marker

Before you start make the snood first. Sprinkle some sugar on a cutting board and place your red jelly on it. Sprinkle some sugar on top of the jelly and use a rolling pin to flatten. Cut to size of snood you would like.

Dip the top of the cupcake into the orange candy melts. Drip off all excess. When close to dry stick in nose, snood and feathers with the candy corns. For the nose I cut off a little of the red part so it wouldn't be so long. If you don't get to stick everything in before it dries then use the orange candy melts and a toothpick to finish gluing on the rest of the decorations. It might take a couple of times to figure out the timing!!!

You can add the eyes (white dot sprinkles) with a toothpick and a dot of melted orange wafers. Put the dot of wafers (your edible glue) where you want the eyes to go and stick the white dots on. When dry use marker to add the black!

I would love this wonderful book and mold for my granddaughter Layona. She is only 22 months old, but she is already helping me bake cookies, so I know this would be such a cute book to read to her and to teach her how to make the little cupcakes! She is like Shimmery, Glimmery Cocoa Levine because she loves to wear dresses and pretty bows in her hair and dance around. But then the next second she is like Pickle Pop, Hot Frog, Scum Skewer, Snail Kebob Larry Contrary because she jumps on beds and couches like a trampoline!! I take care of her every day and I never know who she is going to be, but whoever she is, I love her no matter what! I can’t wait to teach her how to bake!! Thanks for considering my entry! :0)

I'm tickled pink to share this absolutely adorable book written by Audrey Davidow and illustrated by Leslie Dallion.

It is just the cutest book about Coco Levine an adorable little girl who teaches her disgusting neighbor Larry Contray (who doesn't know how to use utensils) all about delicious treats on sticks... most importantly "Cupcake Pops"!

Of Course this got me interested right away!!!

It is no surprise that Audrey wrote a children’s book about cupcakes. With a love for baking and as a former journalist for lifestyle articles that once graced the pages of major magazines and newspapers, it was a natural fit.

My kids loved it! It's part cook book, part craft book and a lot about friendship!

This book ties in so perfectly with our mold that we had to ask Audrey if she would share a a couple of books with us to give to our readers.

Of course, we had to throw a couple of molds into the mix!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cake Pops!

My very first love (when it comes to sweets that is) is chocolate chip cookies with milk of course! But then I got hooked on Cupcake Pops and my chocolate chip cookie making days went to the wayside:-( Something I actually miss......

But then my daughter put a bug in my ear to make Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcake Pops! YUMMMMMMMM!

She was definitely on to something here! I used my basic recipe but with a few adjustments so that there was no raw egg!!!

Great things about this recipe?

1. They are no-bake

2. They are easier to work with than Oreo Cookie and Cream Cheese!

3. Who doesn't like chocolate chip cookies????

Taste tested kid approved!

RECIPE for Cake Pop Cookie Dough

(mix these 3 ingredients first)

2/3 cup butter unsalted room temperature

1/2 cup brown sugar*

*(edited to suggest 1/4 cup packed brown sugar instead, I thought it was a little too sweet before)

1/2 cup granulated sugar

(mix below ingredients)

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 cup plain yogurt, french vanilla yogurt or egg replacer for qty of 1 egg*

(Add dry ingredients next)

1 3/4 cup all purpose flour

1/2 tsp baking soda (for flavor and preservative qualities)

1/2 tsp salt

(Add choc chips last with optional nuts or Heath Bar Crunch)

1 cup semi sweet miniature chocolate chip

Walnuts optional

Heath English Toffee Bits

Use flour sprinkled on mold to help remove dough when molding.

Mold dough before chilling. Then chill before dipping.

*Since I first posted this on my blog I have added a few edits. I like 1/4 cup less sugar, and I prefer these with the egg replacer instead of the yogurt. Tastes more like real cookie dough in my opinion. I am also liking the addition of the Heath English Toffee Bits.

Butter, sugar, Vanilla, flour how can you go wrong? Chocolate Chip cookies... heaven sent! Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcake Pops... Divine!!

I used the small chocolate chips.

I'm getting hungry just looking at these pictures.

1. Add rice to container. 2. Measure opening and cut sytrofoam. 3. Place into container use tape to secure if needed!

Tip of the Day..... Lobster Fork for Dipping Cupcake Pops!

Insert into very well chilled pop. This fork actually had nice and narrow prongs which works better than the forks that have wider prongs.

Dip into chocolate.

Insert stick while removing fork at the same time.

Keeps hands clean and is much easier to handle than holding pop with bare hands!

Sticking Issues

You can also use Pam. I didn't go over this in the video. It works well too but I prefer Powder Sugar or cocao as Pam can get slippery and also make the pops a little soft by adding even more grease. But if your dough is well chilled and mold and hands clean it will work.

Tips, Tricks & Troubleshooting!

Most of you know the basic steps. Make dough, insert into mold, chill, dip, decorate!

As with most things in life to master any skill you will need to practice! However, a few tips and tricks will go a long way in solving many of your cake pop realted problems. The rest is technique and time!

See the nice rings of the mold? If your candy melts are the right consistency

(thin enough) you too will see this nice definition!

Problems:

MY CAKE POP FALLS OFF THE STICK:

Dough is too moist.
Dough is too dry.
Dough is not chilled long enough or has lost its chill and needs to be rechilled.
Not enough candy melts in the bowl and you are needing to dip the same cake pop multiple times to get it covered.
Candy melts are too hot.
Candy melts are too thick.

Solutions:

Use dough that is just moist enough to hold cake or cookies together in a play dough consistency. Follow our No-Bake Recipe at the bottom for the best results.
Chill dough in refrigerator for at least 1hour and only take out 2-3 balls at a time to work with, re-chilling after each use.
If in a hurry put in freezer for 10 minutes but do not let freeze. Then use refrigerator in between dips.
Candy melts should be melted and then cooled for a minute or two before dipping pops.
Colored candy melts or wafers almost always need to be thinned down with Crisco or another vegetable shortening.

See the ridges? Before dipping and after chilling make sure to tap down.

I AM NOT GETTING A GOOD SHAPE FROM THE MOLD:

Your dough is too dry or too moist.
Your dough is not chilled long enough or has lost its chill.
You are not pressing hard enough and making sure the edges of the mold touch each other completely before opening mold and removing dough.

Solutions:

Start off with our easy to make no-bake recipe.
Chill, chill and re-chill. Did I say chill? You will not get a good result if you work with unchilled dough or your dough has lost it's chill. It should be very, very firm! And as soon as you have molded or dipped put back in refrigerator. This is where your pops should be unless you are working with them. Work fast and then rechill.
Make sure to work with clean hands at all times. Keep a towel close by and always wipe hands down and mold down. A clean work area will produce clean results.
Use a light dusting of powder sugar on the inside the mold to help get a great shape.

It is better to hand mix than to mix in a food processor or mixer.
The cream cheese stays colder this way and the texture is better to work with.

MY DOUGH IS STICKING TO THE SIDES OF THE MOLD AND BREAKING IN TWO WHEN I OPEN THE MOLD:

Mold may be dirty with too much cake pop dough.
Cake pop dough isn't chilled enough.
Cake pop dough is too moist.

Solutions:

Keep hands and mold clean at all times wiping both down with a towel frequently.
Use a dusting of powder sugar or cocao on hands and mold.
Dough that isn't chilled long enough tends to break apart.
Too dry dough crumbles and too moist dough separates. Chilled dough helps many of these problems.

Remedy for a too hot kitchen... a bowl of ice.

MY CANDY MELTS ARE DRIPPING ALL OVER THE PLACE:

Candy melts are too hot.
Kitchen is too hot.
Cake pop is being decorated too soon after dipping in candy melts.

Solutions:

After melting candy wafers let wafers stand for several minutes to cool.
Candy wafers should be melted and warm but not hot.
Keep pop upside down until wafers are set but not dry. This can be a learning curve to get a feel for how long it takes candy melts to dry. If your kitchen is cold your candy melts will dry quickly, if your kitchen is hot your candy melts may take a very long time to dry.
Wait a minute or so to add sprinkles. Timing will depend on the heat of your kitchen.
Use a bowl of ice to cool dipped pops. The quicker the candy sets the less drips you will get. Place dipped pops in the refrigerator to harden.

No-Bake Recipe:
   1 - 16.6 oz pkg Original flavored Oreo Cookie
   - Grinded to fine crumbs in food processor.
   7 oz cream cheese.
   - Hand Mix

FINAL TIPS:

Work in a cold kitchen.
Keep your work area clean.
Don't try to rush the process.
CHILL AND RECHILL. If your pop is not firm and cold to the touch you will not get a good result!

If this is your first time or you are working with your children do not get discouraged and just have fun with it and enjoy the process. No matter what your pops look like they will taste amazing and more than likely your kids or friends will think they look great!

What kid wouldn't love these patriotic pinwheel pops? They were a quick and

easy way to put a fun "spin" on our red, white & blue pops!

My son went nuts over this one!

Well, until he saw this one. Then he had a new love. But when the gum was gone he was back to the pinwheel pop... so the way I see it you can't really go wrong with either!

This patriotic Double Bubble I thought was the best. What's more nostalgic than Double Bubble? And red, white and blue to boot! The pinwheels I found at Michael's Craft Store. They are on a wooden dowel that is really easy to cut down to size. Both add a whimsical touch to the patriotic pops that kids and adults love!

If your more of a beach bum or a sailor at heart, here is a spin on the traditional red, white & blue theme. (This one was my husband's favorite, since he can't wait to get his boat in the water this weekend!)

Adding cute patriotic ribbon can dress up your pop for any party. It really finishes the pops nicely and makes it feel like you're giving a gift when you hand them out!

And an oldy but goodie! You can't go wrong with any patriotic theme in my opinion. The red/white & blue speaks to all of us here everyday, but especially on the 4th of July as we celebrate the freedom of our country and thank those still serving to protect it.

So grill out with family, watch fireworks with friends, thank a soldier, pass out some pops and....

Healthy AND Delicious Pops For Everyone!!

Here at My Little Cupcake we get a lot of requests for allergy-safe pops!Would you believe these delectable looking pops are not only a very healthy snack but are also vegan, gluten free AND if you leave off the super healthy organic dipping chocolate,they are also completely RAW!!

My right hand man... I mean woman here at My Little Cupcake, Angela, happens to follow a strict RAW food diet. So even though she works here with me she has never actually tasted one of our Yummilicious Pops?!?! She does however, love cookies and her favorite recipe is from raw food chef Ani Phyo.I had to do something about this situation so I invited Angela over so we could make these healthy pops together! We wanted to test out this recipe and see if we could make it work with our mold???And it sure did...

We based our recipe on Ani Phyo's Raw Oatmeal Cookie Recipe page 113 in her book, Ani's Raw Food Desserts. We made a few changes to make it work a little easier for working in the Mini-Mold™.
The original recipe ingredients are very simple;
1 Cup Oats
1/2 cup Madjool Dates
1/2 cup Raisins
Pinch of Cinnamon.
It doesn't get much easier than that...There aren't really set amounts on the oats as you just keep mixing in more oats until you have the texture you are looking for.Add more or less dates for moisture, and raisins and cinnamon to taste...The recipe made 12 Pops.Using those 4 ingredients only, the cookies are 100% raw, vegan and gluten-free. We have included some optional ingredients such as cacao nibs (also raw) for crunch or dusting, shredded coconut (optional raw) and non-raw but organic vegan/gluten-free chocolate for dipping.Even with the addition of these "indulgent" ingredients the pops remain vegan and gluten free.

The cookies were so easy to make and no tools were required!The madjool dates were simply pitted and torn into smaller bits by hand right into the mixing bowl.

What a beautiful bowl of healthy ingredients...We used whole oats in order to stick with our theme of easy and not get out any gadgets for these cookies but in the future I would suggest popping them into the food processor first in order to produce a better shape and cleaner ridges from the cupcake mold. (You could also add optional cacao nibs to the mix for crunch here as well.)

Mix the ingredients with your hands until everything has mixed thoroughly. It combines quickly and there is no refrigeration of the dough between this and the next step.Then simply press the dough into the cupcake mold and squeeze it together.

The dates bind everything together perfectly and the smell from this bowl of fresh ingredients was absolutely wonderful...The only gadget we did use was to grind up some extra oats to coat the mold and our hands to help with sticking issues (as the dates can get a little sticky). It worked great for us!It's hard to see in this picture but the cupcake form came out just right!We couldn't believe how easily this very hearty dough worked with our My Little Cupcake CakePop Mini-Mold™.Actually, we could believe it...Our pops are a piece of cake, after all!You can see the light dusting of ground oats that we used to prevent sticking. You could also ground the optional cacao nibs into a powder and use that to help prevent any sticking and to also add a light chocolate taste. This organic, vegan and gluten-free chocolate melted in no time at all outside in the sunshine.(We were again sticking with the no gadgets or cooking needed for these pops!)Angela is working on her dipping skills here. Did I mention she does not know how to cook either? She is a trooper though, and therefore raw food is a fitting lifestyle for her and thankfully,so are these super easy and healthy pops.We went with such a dark, tasty and healthy chocolate in order to use less of it and keep the pops healthy. (This chocolate is not raw, but is organic, vegan and gluten free which is right inline with our goal of making allergy-safe pops!)

These pops actually hold together so nicely there is no need to refrigerate between dipping the bottoms and decorating the tops.I have to be honest-the pops don't even need chocolate they are so tasty on their own.But since we like to decorate here at My Little Cupcake and jazz things up, we simply drizzled the sun-melted chocolate on the tops of the pops for a swirled look. Angela couldn't drizzle so I took over...we'll work on it!A few light shakes of coconut dust and these healthy pops were ready to eat!We used organic shredded coconut but you could also buy or make your own raw coconut shreds as well. You could also decorate with some raisins on top.It turns out Angela couldn't dip or drizzle, but she could shake the coconut on perfectly.We'll keep her☺The pops are ready to serve but you could also put them in the fridge and they will firm up a bit and be perfect to travel in the car and arrive at just the right temperature for serving. Because of the dates I would recommend refrigerating if you do not intend to eat them within a couple of hours.These healthy pops were so amazing that I put some together to bring to the gym with me in the morning...yes you heard me right...cakepops to the GYM!!However, they didn't last long enough to make the trip but I did make sure to tell everyone about them.No one could believe that it was possible to make something so beautiful and delicious from only a handful of easy ingredients...But here at My Little Cupcake... our recipes have to pass the roughest bunch of taste testers.

And here they are ...the 10 years and younger division of "Team Cupcake."Every pop only gets the "Yummilicious Guarantee" if it passes their strict testing...Their standards are high and they were already on to us that we were making a healthier version of the pops.(anyone hear the whistling music from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly here?)You can even see it in their faces in the picture..they are questioning this "healthy cupcake pop" in their hands, hesitantly thinking it looks too good to be good for you....?

Well, as you can see these healthy pops had them all really surprised...enjoying every bite and wanting more...including the dog... AMAZING!They all had seconds and even asked us to make another batch of these healthy, vegan, gluten-free pops!

We are so thrilled when we can add yet another recipe for our mold that not only tastes great, but is healthy and safe for lots of kids with allergies.We know a lot of those kids always bring their own desserts to birthday parties, etc.,where the food is not safe and we just LOVE passing this recipe on so they can make and decorate allergy safe and healthy pops for themselves!

This is a wonderful book by the way and has lots more amazing recipes in it!And of course a Big Thank You to Angela for sharing your idea with me and coming over and spending the afternoon with me playing in the kitchen. As an end of the year gift at Logan's preschool, the brave teachers decided to surprise the parents with a Preschool Cookbook of recipes...straight from the mouths of babes...

We saw Logan's recipe page and we instantly fell in love, too! What a HUGE compliment from such a little fan! Logan chose our My Little Cupcake CakePop for her recipe!

Classroom Party Pops!

Classroom Party Time!!!
It's hard to believe the end of the school year is approaching and summer is almost here! We have a lot of fun in the summertime, taking advantage of no school agenda, sunshine and extra time together.
But, before summer starts, the classroom end of the year celebrations begin!

Cupcake pops are always a hit in the classroom! Whether it's a birthday treat day in the classroom or an end of the year party, kids and teachers can't get enough of cakepops. Candy melts come in so many great colors so you can do a school color theme, or like these, a fun confetti cakepop that just s-c-r-e-a-m-s Party Time!!

This display was for my daughter's birthday cakepops in the classroom. We already know our My Little Cupcake pops are a piece of cake, but so was the simple display. A few styrofoam rings and some hidden toothpicks and the cakepops were heading to class in style.

The sign was printed on computer papers and then I used two colored straws to hold it up. From start to finish this was a quick project and my daughter and her classmates LOVED it! It was a perfect way to celebrate her birthday and give all of the kids a special treat in the classroom.

Memorial Day Weekend Pop Fun!!

We really can't get over how fast time flies here at My Little Cupcake! It feels like we were just wishing for spring and now it is already Memorial Day Weekend. For many of us it is a chance to spend extra time over the long weekend to be with friends and remember those serving our country. And a great chance to try out some patriotic pops designs. The traditional red, white & blue approach is great for the kids to make pops that, well POP!
Our patriotic pops seemed to stand tall with pride!

We have so much fun making the classic red, white & blue pops! We recently ran a giveaway for Military Spouse Appreciation Day and the decorating ideas that our fans came up with were out of this world! The winner (a K-9 handler's wife) suggested making milkbones on top of the cupcake pops as a shout out to those amazing dogs. Another fan suggested red, white & blue cupcakes with yellow ribbons on top of them to support all of those away fighting. So many great ideas!

They even have glittery sprinkles on them!

Adorable cupcake necklaces from a nice woman named Debra Kallen of Debra Kallen Art in British Columbia, where she is a glass artist that specializes in making glass inspired by candies and sweet treats. Debra saw the girls in the My Little Cupcake Pop video and thought they should have these sweet necklaces for doing such a great job! What a treat!

This was the perfect gift for my family of cupcake lovers!

Egg decorating move over...

There's a new tradition at our house.

Of course we did the usual.

Egg decorating... which has come a long way since I was a kid.

This year Kai really got into it.

Literally!!!

But look what we did with our friends!

How about hosting a Cupcake Pop Decorating Party! btw: If you don't have a mold you can of course do round pops!!! The fun is in the decorating... and of course, the eating.

Don't forget the sprinkles... These were from Target... a really great deal!

I used yellow cake and canned frosting. 3/4's of the can for 1 cake.

A creative afternoon of yummy fun.

All the colors and candies. The kids were in heaven.

Everyone had the same amount to decorate.

It was a little bit of a race to see who could secure the best treats/toppers.

Easter Bunny Cake Pops

O.K. so I am not so sure about these Bunny Pops (the big cheek ones anyway). They look a little like... well ~ I think you know what I mean. But there is something I still kinda like, a certain charm about them.

This one was not the bunny I started out to make but after seeing how the big cheeks reminded me so much of umhmm - I took off the cheeks and ended up with this cute little bunny. Do I need to mention I was referring to the one on the left... didn't think so.

Instructions:
For these I made chocolate brownies out of a box. Nothing fancy just quick and easy. Then I made buttercream frosting (this was very much like the recipe I used minus the brandy). The recipe I used was with sugar not powder sugar. If you use powder sugar your truffle mix will be much sweeter than if you use the buttercream frosting made with sugar. These tasted like very chewy moist brownies and not too sweet. They had a very distinct brownie taste. Yummy!

Make ears first.

Ear Instructions:
Roll out Gum paste and use a cookie cutter to make ears. I used this one and squeezed it together to get slimmer ears.

Then shape your ears like below: Pinch tops and bottoms.

More Ears

Then make Truffle Mix (brownies and buttercream frosting mixed together). Make your oval shapes and if you want the bunnies with the big cheeks you will need two smaller balls as well.

Attach smaller balls onto face with white candy melts. When set dip entire head into melted candy. Let excess pour off and attach ears. When almost dry attach bow using two Heart Drops pointing toward each other and one Mini Pastel candie in the middle. The nose is a heart shaped sprinkle from the Flower Medley and if you do not have the Mini Pastel Candies you can use a round sprinkle from the Flower Medley as well. When bunny is completely dry use your Foodwriter to draw on eyes and mouth if needed (depending on which bunny you are making). Use your art brush to apply pink pearl dust to cheeks for blush and the yellow pearl dust is used around the tips and bottoms of the ears for definition and again around the cheeks for shadowing and to create more depth.

Meet the newest members of our family

Fluffy, Peanuts, Rosie, & Tiny Pancake.

Born (3-30-11 & 3-31-11)

For those of you who have followed my blog for awhile you will find that every now and then I throw in an animal post. My other true love aside from my family and making sweet treats is animals.

We hatched these from eggs and they are so sweet.

It is amazing but everyone needs a best friend and even at a couple of days old they have already found their best buddies.

This reminds me of a sheet commercial!

The following instructions assume that you know how to make cupcake pops. If you haven't made them before find instructions here and watch video. The following are just the decorating steps.

The grass was made by mixing green food coloring to coconut.

Add a little at a time and mix. Repeat until you get your desired color. I cut the coconut up to make it look like grass.

After your grass is made it's time to dip the cupcake pops.

You can add sprinkles for extra bling!

Ummm... this was A LOT of Bling... Oops;-) It's o.k. the bowl catches the extra. Don't try to clean up the sprinkles right away. I wait until it's all dry and use a toothpick to knock the extras off the cupcake pop.

Add a little extra candy melts to act as your adhesive.

If you are going to use "Candy Buttons" as your eggs attach grass next.

However, if you are going to use Jelly Beans for Eggs... I would wait to put the grass on at the end before the handle. Reasoning: Jelly Beans are so big they cover a lot of room and they won't stick as well to just the grass.

Add decorations.

You can use a little green candy melts to act as adhesive (instead of pink) and then put more grass around the edges. It would have been a little cleaner that way.

This one was made with green sprinkles as the grass.

Making The Handle:

I made the handle of "Air Head" Candies.

Cut into thin strips.

Flatten slightly on sugar lined mat.

Twist 2 pieces together.

Cut to proper length and attach.

Hint: Do not make your handle too long. It will start to fall. Do not refrigerate handle, it gets fragile and has a tendency to break. Attach at the very end.

St. Patrick's Day Cake Pop Display

Need a St. Patrick's Day idea?

Try this... it really is easy!

Have fun with your kids making this St. Patrick's Day Cake Pop Display. It not only is a great display but it is a fun craft project.

What you will need:

2 styrofoam circle (6")

1 styrofoam circle (9")

Toothpicks

Thimble

Green Spray Paint

Black Satin Ribbon

Yellow Felt (small square 2"x2")

Green shamrock sticker (optional)

Leprechaun (optional... I got mine from A.C. Moore)

Open Styrofoam

Use thimble to push toothpicks into styrofoam circles.

Attach 2 small circles together first.

The toothpicks will be longer than the thickness of the two styrofoam circles put together.

Turn the styrofoam circles upside down onto the larger circle to secure into place.

Bring outside and spray paint.

Make sure when you spray paint not to get too close to styrofoam or apply paint too thick....

Styrofoam will melt!

Measure, cut and glue black satin ribbon.

Cut a 2"x2" square, fold in half and cut a smaller square.

Add glue to one side.

Attach to hat, add sticker and your hat is done!

We added this posable leprechaun from A.C. Moore.... but you can use hat as is or add something else! Be creative!!!

St. Patty's Day Pops

I wanted to make something different for St. Patrick's Day and so I came up with these cute little Pots of Gold. They are very tasty ~ especially with all the M&M's on top. Warning though these are very sweet! This recipe/project is time consuming and a little on the more difficult side. But if you like to decorate and work with your hands this can be a lot of fun and the reward is very cute Pots O' Gold!

Start with making your dough. For the first round I used yellow cake with vanilla butter cream frosting. I would say it was o.k. On the second round I used Oreo Cookie and Cream Cheese. This definately tasted better but the dough can be soft and for this recipe I wouldn't recommend it. My recommendation if I were to do it again would be to use chocolate cake and cream cheese frosting. More info on dough recipe here.

I started with making balls about 1 1/4" - 1 1/2" in diameter.

Then with your right hand (if you are right handed) place your index finger on top and thumb on the side and the ball in the palm of your left hand. Rotate the ball taping with your thumb and making an indention with your index finger until your ball looks more like a pot. Like this:

Melt your green candy. Make sure you have a dish that is deep enough to dunk the pot all at once. Stick the lollipop stick into the bottom of the pot, dip and then let the excess drip off. Before the candy dries cover your pot with green sprinkles.

After the pots have been dipped it is time to put the yellow M&M's into the pot. I used yellow candy melts to make them stick. It is helpful to use a decorating brush to apply the melted candy for the fine detail work.

The handle is made from black gum paste. Mix your gum paste with black food coloring. If you have latex gloves it will keep your hands clean. Make a thin rope. I measure my desired length and left a little extra to curl a little at each end. Use green melts to stick the handle on.

Finally apply 3 yellow hearts to make them look like a 3 leaf clover. Use a dab of yellow candy melts for gluing them on.

You can finish with wrapping them up and tying them with a green ribbon.

Chocolate Truffles Anyone?

Chocolate Truffle Cookie Delight (Cake Pop Dough)

It’s NO-BAKE!!!

an original recipe by My Little Cupcake

I love chocolate!!! Love may not even be a strong enough word! It is more of an addiction. So when I was thinking of something extra special to make for this year's Valentine's Day I thought Chocolate. I have been wanting to find a way to put a truffle into the cupcake mold for a long time. But chocolate would be too soft I though and the mold might be too big for that amount of pure chocolate!

This recipe is the happy medium. Part cookie, part chocolate but taste and consistency of a truffle! A little bit of heaven.

Can you think of better ingredients than this... that are this fast?

Right after being mixed it will have a very soft consistency.Recipe:

1 15 oz.Pkg (approx. 28 cookies) Oreo Fudgee Cookies

1/2 Cup Milk

1/2 Cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Powder Sugar for dusting hands.

Grind cookies in a food processor. Place milk in microwave safe bowl; microwave, uncovered on HIGH 60-90 seconds or until milk begins to simmer. Add chocolate morsels; whisk until smooth. Pour mixture into food processor with cookies and continue until all ingredients are combined.

Pour mixture into bowl wait 10 - 15 minutes and make scoops. Chill for 2-3 hours. Sprinkle hands with powder sugar and roll spoonfuls of truffle mixture into balls and mold. Rechill 10 minutes and truffle cupcakes are ready to be dipped.

A few minutes later it's already firming up.

Wait 10-15 minutes and then scoop onto parchment paper. A scooper helps keep hands clean!

I dipped these in Wilton's Milk Chocolate Wafers. So Good!!!

I'm always playing around with different ways to display my Cupcake Pops.

(Wilton has a new cake pop display out.... shown at the end of this blog post.)

But I really like playing around with styrofoam and adding layers.

For this one I have two different sizes and a round styrofoam ball (cut in half for the center). I secured the display with toothpicks. A few little flowers are glued for decoration! I try to keep it simple and let the Pops get the attention!

Heart Shaped Valentine Cupcake Pops

Items you will need:
Heart Shaped Mold (helpful but not necessary)
Oreo Cookies
Cream Cheese
Wilton Candy Melts (In Pink or Lavender)
Wilton Sprinkles in Sparkling White
Valentine Candy Hearts

My Mold

I bought this package from CVS. I only used the top half of the heart to make my shapes.

Pop Recipe: (Full Instructions Here)
Oreo Cookies
Cream Cheese

Then form your shapes:

Melt your chocolate and then put your stick in your heart shape and dip. Then place your candy heart in the middle of your heart pop and cover heart with sprinkles. The secret is to cover your heart before the chocolate dries but make sure your chocolate isn't too runny or the sprinkles and chocolate will just drip off. I find that freezing the shapes and getting them nice and chilled helps with the dipping.

And that's it. Your all done. I added the wrapper tied it with ribbon and a Valentine tag and you have a very cute Valentine Gift for your children's friends or even your own.

Chocolatini Raspberry Martini Cake Bites or Pops!

New Year's Eve or Mom's Night Out this is sure to be a hit!

Recipe

Chocolate Cake Crumbled

1 cup chocolate sauce (melt 3/4 chocolate chip morsels into 3/4 cup half & half)

4 oz Raspberry Vodka

1/4 cup Raspberry Syrup (thaw frozen raspberries and strain syrup)

Mix together to form cake pop dough.

Step 1: Dip the tops into white candy melts. Let Dry

If you don't have a cupcake pop mold you can make these round! They will look great that way too!

Step 2: Drizze the chocolate onto the tops going around in a circular pattern.
Garnish with a mini M&M!

Taken off their sticks as "Cupcake Bites"! Whenever I make these I always put them on a stick first and
then take them off. I just find it easier to dip and work with when they are on a stick. You can fill the hole in the bottom with a little chocolate at the end.

You don't have to be an expert to do these. Trust me I am not good at drizzling the chocolate on the top but I think they still look good enough to eat! And after a couple of "these" pops no one will care!!!

Santa has a chocolate kiss for the hat and mini M&M for the nose, Sixlet for the ball on top of the hat.

Styrofoam circles make great Pop displays!

Add a decoration you have at home for the centerpiece and place POPS all around!

Snowman's hat is made from a black jelly that was rolled in sugar and cut to shape. Did you know you can roll any jelly candy into sugar and cut them to make all kinds of shapes? I LOVE THIS!

Simple is always good too!

I pick up all kinds of candies and take them off of their sticks or packaging and put them on top of my Cupcake Pops to decorate. Be creative!!! It doesn't have to say sprinkles to be used as a decoration!

Peanut Butter Puppy Poppers

So these aren't cupcake pops or even cupcakes but they are sweet treats, gourmet desserts, mouthwatering and delectable. Just made for dogs...

Well what can I say if my son thought if they were good for the dog then they were good enough for him (and my 6 year old daughter did too!) There's just some'n in those bones!!!

These are also really great bake sale items. I wrap them up, add a kraft tag with the name on one side and recipe on the other.

These are also great fun to make with your kids. My children love to make them and they are so easy to do. What's more my dog gives them 2 paws up! They are just Doggone Good!!! O.K. you know I had to say it:)

Recipe: (my version)
1 Cup Peanut Butter
1 Egg
1/2 Cup Honey
1/2 Cup Milk
2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour
1 Tblspn Baking Powder

Yield: 28-30 3 1/4" bisquits

Preheat Oven to 375'F. In a bowl combing flour and baking powder. In mixer combine peanut butter and honey mix in egg. Add milk and flour mixture alternating. Place dough on lightly floured surface and roll dough to 1/4" thickness. Use dog bone cookie cutter to make shapes. Bake for 18-20 minutes on baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Cool on rack.

* these cookies tend to burn easily do not over cook and use parchment paper to prevent the bottoms from burning.

This recipe can be found on many sites on the internet but this is my version. I have added an egg and honey and altered a few of the other ingredients. I am not sure who originally came up with the recipe but after making this many times I find I like to make it this way.

Looks difficult but Oh So Easy!

Put two round tiers of styrofoam on a plate. Spray paint with Wilton's "Color Mist" Food Color Spray. These were sprayed with black.

A taller decoration in the middle to add interest. Cake POPS around the edges.

Some Spiders, a worm and sprinkles for the finishing touches.

That's it!

Turn Oreo Truffle balls into sparkling Jack O' Lanterns!

It's a Jack O' Lantern family.

And look how cute the little one is....

If you have a toddler these small ones are perfect for them. Just a bite. And really that is all they want and it doesn't get much cuter than this.

There is something I really like about the simplicity of just a plain pumpkin!

Want to know what the vine is made from? Green Air Heads! How cool is that. Not my idea but one that I saw and loved.

Shopping List: Makes 24 Large or 48 small

1 pkg Oreo Cookies

1 8oz pkg Cream Cheese

Lollipop Sticks

Orange Candy Melts

Orange Sparkling Sugar

Green Apple Airheads (use scissors to cut into thin strips. Use hand to curl)

Pretzels

Black candy sprinkles

Make Oreo Truffle Balls and Chill.
Add Lollipop Stick.
Dip into Orange Candy Melts and cover with sparkling sugar.
Add Pretzel.
Use a little orange candy melts to attach vine
Decorate face with black candy (I used bats)

I always pick up candies and decorations as I go.

Although once in a bowl they never last long!

Love, Love, Love Halloween!!!!

Little cauldrons or pumpkins are a great way to display your cupcake pops, cake pops or lollipops!

A little double stick tape on the bottom of the cauldron helps it stick to the table. Some double stick tape inside the cauldron helps hold the styrofoam. Some candies on top hide the styrofoam and help keep the pot from tipping over.

I decorated the outside of the pot with some spider webs and spider stickers.

Witchin' You a Happy Halloween!

Look what you can do with your Cupcake POP Mold!

Start with your cupcakes.

Pinch the tops of the cupcakes and bend a little.

Dip the bottoms into Halloween Green Candy Melts.

Paint the brim of the hat with black chocolate melts.

A little at a time.

Add sprinkles to decorate.

Continue until the entire hat brim is covered.

Hair was added by using Wilton's icing in a tube.

Straight lines down and curled at the bottom.

And one ring around the hat with a little decoration to finish off the ends.

Add a touch of black candy melts to the tip of the hat.

We hung a bat from the hat.

Your witch is now ready for the nose.

I used Wilton's Rainbow Chip Crunch in orange for the nose.

Add a drop of green candy melts to stick on the nose.

Attach nose.

And now for the face.

Use a food writer pen in black. I used Wilton's but it didn't work well for me.

I liked the one with the eyelashes but I just couldn't get the food writer to work well enough to do it on all of them. I am going to try a different brand next time.

The great thing about these witches, believe it or not, is that you really can't make a mistake!

I'm not kidding. Witches are supposed to be ugly........

so every imperfection is all part of the charm!!!!

So everyday I think today is going to be the day that I finally
will be able to not only make new "POPS",
but also, upload the instructions to my blog.

I mean I've got ideas!!!

I'm Not Kidding!

I think and think and plan and plan!

But..... for those of you with kids..... you will understand this.
Life happens.....................

It is the stuff, such as... my husband trying to help me with the kids by making a simple thing like Popcorn while I am "creating" and him pressing the "Potato" button on the microwave instead of the "Popcorn" button and consequently not only burning the popcorn but catching it on fire and almost destroying my beloved kitchen!

It is the unplanned life events of working while the kids are at school. Only they come home sick, and the next day the next one is sick, the next day is 1/2 day and now they are all home!!!

It is making dinner and turning on the oven only to realize the casserole dish is still in the oven (it's home of sorts) and now is hot. So you take it out of the oven put it on the granite counter top which is a little cold with a touch of water and the glass dish explodes into a million pieces!
What a MESS!!!

I got that mess cleaned up only to have my two year old run outside on the swing set... fall down and end up in doggy poop! YUCKS!!!

Not Kidding. This is my life. Most of this happened just this past week. I've got 5 ducks as well and one on eggs (not that I want more ducklings) but trying to get my daughter agree to let me take the eggs away is not an easy task!

So for all you crazy busy moms like me... this is for you. Maybe that's why we LOVE Cupcakes so much. A little "perfection" in a not so perfect world.

An Unusual Visitor In Our Yard!

So this has nothing to do with Cake Pops, Cupcake Pops or even baking..... but some things are just too good not to share.

How often do you get to see a Peacock in your yard?

At first we thought it was wild. But I don't think we have wild Peacocks in Massachusetts?

I think it was a she because I thought the males were the ones with the beautiful tail feathers.

Helping herself to some corn from the ducks.

Finally, she ended up in our back yard on top of the swing set proud and regal!

After about 1/2 an hour she was gone. She hopped down. Over the fence and off to a new adventure!

I love moments like this. When you realize the best times in life are free and so unexpected.
